Senshi Muyo Items list

Post by Mystic »

Just an example of some of the more mundane or extragazent items avaiable in the senshiverse

1) Holopads: Holopads are long narrow hand held devices designed to be carried in backpacks or purses. Holopads wirelessly connect up to a local network so long as established relays are in the area, as such Holopads may lose net functionality in extreme conditions or when to far from a relay station. Basic features include web surfing the local network, mid range email, projection of low res 3d images, GPS capability and low res static image capture.

2) Micro Relay Booster: This device features an extendable dish and is attached to a Holopad via its top mounts. While it substantially increases a holopads bulk it also greatly increases the distance a holopad can be from a relay station. This is a must for anyone who wishes to maintain contact with a starship database while on under developed worlds.

3) Optical Pad Recorder: This device is designed as an attachment to existing “Pads” though you will be required to have the right racial variant, or a universal converter to use it. The optical recorder, or camera, rests over one of the users eyes and connects to the pad via a small cord. It is capable of both zoom in and zoom out and possesses several basic scanner frequencies to assist in various environment recording.

4) Laptop: These devices are of Techoren design and are often the size of a small briefcase. While not as portable as Holopads their already large screens are capable of extending to larger sizes and can produce incredibly detailed images. Laptops also possess powerful processers and so can be used to run advanced software programs that Holopads can not.

5) Universal Converter: This device comes from World Walker origins and is used to allow connections between Techoren and Dark Jurai devices. It resembles a large pipe in appearance, with a mass of sockets on either side. The centre of the pipe allows for the conversion of operating language which makes the connection possible.

6) Iron Rations: These large square shaped rations are supplied to Techoren soldiers before any mission along side VitoWater canisters. The cubes when eaten are engineered to supply the body all the vital nutrients it needs while producing a pleasant though somewhat bland taste. The VitoWater is designed to quickly rehydrate a soldier and prevent hydration for times much longer than normal water.

7) Survival Paste: Dark Jurai engineered tubes of flavoured survival paste. The paste can be squeezed out of a tube straight into a users month and comes in a variety of flavours. Like Iron Rations it contains all nutrients required for survival and also combines in the effects of liquid hydration, although this is not as good as VitoWater.

8) Cleano Spray: Dark Juraian designed this spray is squirted onto an article of clothing or other item and immediately begins braking down biological extracts such as sweet, blood or saliva. Additionally it makes it much easier to wash off other substances such as mud or dirt when mixed with light water. This is most commonly used by Dark Juraian soldiers
9) Anti Grav Clamps: These devices are battery operated and when clamped onto the side of an object and activated they reduce this objects weight. Grav clamps can only reduce a set amount of weight based on the clamps strength so one can’t use them to flip a tank over. They are commonly used to move heavy crates or pieces of industrial equipment.

I like it, a simple but effective list of common items we constantly use, or deal with in the "senshiverse."

All around common tools, as well as some of the survival gear. Cleano Spray, obviously makes fun of the more "asian" aspect of the DJ race, however; they would use it the most, as their soldiers are twice as likely to find themselves covered in blood and other gore.

Good to note that the walkers are inventing as well, though one might wonder, did they give the two races the ideas of the common devises?

A few ideas on what needs to be added

Navigation device - You gave Leila one once, it was a navigation device with sort of an "auto-map" feature that could generate a map of the surrounding terrain (with the disadvantage that it could potentially be detected when such was on)

Com phones - Communication is important in our society, and it would be doubly important in futuristic societies like those of the RP. So what form do these devices take? Are they like today's smartphones, like the iPhone?

Long Range Communication - How heavy is, say, a portable subspace transciever, to allow communications at extremely long distances, such as that between planets, or maybe systems?

Desktops/Terminals - These offer the advantage of a comfortable form factor over the laptop. Some have superior performance, but for most mundane applications comfort is the only real advantage.

I also have a small point to make. Imaging technology today continues to get more miniaturized, and cameras are getting integrated into everything. There is no reason this shouldn't be true in the future as well. So I wish to make a proposal. "Small" cameras (integrated shit) vs. "Large"" cameras (dedicated devices). A small camera could develop a reasonable quality 2d image. However, display technology is such that fully 3d images can be displayed. So a large camera could have something of a sensor suite that could take those 3d images.

In the case of cameras while I do agree the world is getting smaller and smaller I still have to say the small shit is shit. Professional photographers and film makers stil carry around massive beasty things. because while technology advances to keep up with the better rendering etc you still need big complicated devices. My cellphone has an inbuilt video recorder and it is a chunk of shit.

As for advance 3d cameras its not oging to work unless your sonor pulsing the entire area around you to try and built the 3d image, in which case its not really a camera. Anything thats simplistic point and record really will be 2d.

I understand an argument of an danced future but simply put, not everything in the far future is super advanced. Some areas just arnt as a head as others.

"3D" isn't necessarily fully 3d. In movies like Avatar, it generally means the illusion of 3d from a fixed point of view. The technology of the RP should be able to duplicate this illusion without the need for glasses. This means a need for cameras that can take advantage of the technology. While the point of view is still fixed (you can't interactively go behind a person for intance) you get a better feeling of depth.

As for camera phones, the new Google Nexus One has a 5.0 megapixel camera AND an LED flash. Definitely not a chunk of shit. It has video recording at 720x480px too, certainly not HD but also not that bad.

Mind you there's probably a limit to how small cameras can go and still have reasonable optics - we're likely near that limit now, since while the sensors are getting smaller the actual optics aren't. This is probably where you are coming from, and this I can respect. All I'm saying, is miniaturization is such that you could get a reasonable picture from a small device such as a phone, sufficient for many common (and a few uncommon) uses. The small cameras used in surgery are a good example of an uncommon use, taking a picture for later identification of a person, or maybe an impromptu photo of a celebrity are more common.

Dedicated cameras have many features that such small devices will never have, naturally. The obvious is improved optics. This doesn't necessarily equate to higher resolution (resolution is a feature of the sensor) but rather to higher detail in the images captured. Optical zoom is another feature of dedicated cameras. If you zoom in far enough with digital zoom, you see pixels. You don't get that with optical zoom.
