Halya is a female half-elf, 5'10" tall with black hair a little longer
than shoulder length and deep green eyes. She has a tanned complexion. She
has the attractiveness typical of the elven people, with softer features
that make her seem more approachable.
Halya was born in the kingdom of Baslan to Ethan and Tyliira Dae, a
Techoren and Wolf Elf, respectively. Baslan bordered what was once the
great Elven kingdom. At the time of her birth, Legion influence within
Baslan was weak, and Elves weren't viewed with hostility, but that was
sure to change.
When Halya was 8, the Legion took control of the neighboring kingdom of
Narsal. With pressure from the Legion mounting, the King of Baslan signed
a treaty of alliance, and in an effort to prevent invasion immediately
turned on those elves within his kingdom. Some managed to escape, but her
mother was not among them.
Young Halya was not with her parents at the time, but had been taken to
visit one of her friends, the daughter of a servant of Countess Izura
Onthar. She was immediately siezed by Izura's guards but, rather than
simply kill her, Izura took Halya as a servant.
The servant's life was not for Halya. She bristled at the constant control
and strict discipline, as well as under the frequent punishments when she
did something wrong. Indeed, Halya's treatment was harsher than that of
Izura's other, human servants. After a brief 4 years, Halya ran away.
Making her way to the city of Serlen on the border of Baslan, Halya
quickly found life far rougher than she had anticipated. Finding herself
unwelcome and unable to survive in the city, Halya left by way of the west
gate, and shortly after she was ambushed by bandits.
Once more her life was in danger, but the leader of the bandits, a female
elf named Shi'lan, decided to spare her life. Indeed, Shi'lan taught her
the art of fighting and over the years Halya proved to be a valuable
member of the band of thieves.
Eventually, however, the heat from the local authorities got too great,
and the group was forced to break up. Halya and Shi'lan parted ways only a
few short months before Halya joined the party.
While it would be easy for her to become a simple killer, she has vowed to
fight these urges within herself, and fight for what she believes to be
right. She treads a fine line, however, as should she seek to further
unlock her power she could well have to face a side of herself she
definitely does not like.
